Dr. Michelle Chung is an NYC-based clinical psychologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of concerns across the lifespan, including anxiety-related disorders (such as perfectionism, OCD, and PANS/PANDAS), trauma, mood disorders, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, occupational stress, performance and sports psychology, life transitions, adjustment disorders, parenting, relationship concerns, and affect regulation. She is trained in and practices evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Dr. Chung is deeply committed to providing developmentally informed, effective care for children, adolescents, adults, and families. She also has a particular passion for supporting individuals navigating the emotional and physical transitions of perimenopause and menopause—an often overlooked but clinically significant stage of life.
Dr. Chung has published and presented on topics including child and complex trauma, suicide, and caregiver engagement in treatment. She has also worked extensively in performance and sports psychology, providing psychological support and educational presentations to Olympic-level athletes, teams, parents, and coaches to enhance resilience and performance in high-pressure environments. She is currently an active member of the DBT consultation team led by Jill Rathus, Ph.D., co-developer of DBT for adolescents and a master DBT trainer.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Chung is the founder of InPractice Psychology and Modern Approach to Parenting/The Modern Asian Parent (MAP). She serves as a board member at Korean Community Services (KCS) and brings a culturally informed lens to her clinical, educational, and advocacy work. Above all, she is a wife and mother, grounding her professional work in lived experience.
Dr. Chung is also a sought-after speaker who offers engaging, culturally responsive, and evidence-based presentations for schools, practices, organizations, and community groups. Her speaking topics include mental health, parenting, identity development, resilience and grit, sports and performance psychology, executive functioning, working with Asian populations, and navigating major life transitions.
